Anyone tried Pilates ? i go swimming and i am fine with that it helps me to be more supple. I've thought about Pilates for a while but haven't plucked up the courage to go yet. Kathleen Mc.

Sorry No. I'd love to be able to get down on the floor ThumbDown and even better - get UP again Scared Go for it. You won't know until you try. It's supposed to be good for toning and balance.

I have 2 friends that go along they are in their 50's and they say it is great.
However myself would find it impossible - It takes me all my time getting down
on to the floor and then getting up ! Give it a try see if you able to do it.

hi Kathleen,

no never tried it because i would never get down on the floor let alone up these days,

but it seems such a good gentle way of exercising if you feel able i would definately give it a go.

i used to do pilates years ago it is great but be carefull know your limits, if the tutor is any good they should be upto speed about R.A and know what is best to start you off,it really is good and you WILL feel it next day, best of luck,if you dont like it dont go back.

Hi Kathleen,

I've been doing pilates every week for a year now and I really enjoy it. It's mainly floor based so once you're down you're pretty much there for the entire hour. My RA has been manageable so I'm able to do most thing, there's hardly any weight bearing on your joints but if my joints are stiff I give it a miss as some moves require fast movement like straightening alternate legs whilst on your back in a curl up position. I have a really good teacher so that's important but as it's always said, know your limits and listen to your body.

I also do yoga once a week which I also love.

Give it a try, and then you'll know whether it's for you or not.
